  • The Latino Center of the Midlands (LCM) in collaboration with Marrs Magnet Center provided a career day for 8th grade students to visit Metropolitan Community College (MCC) to learn about careers in criminal justice.  Students were welcomed to the campus by faculty and students who talked to them about the importance of attending college and the opportunities available at MCC. The faculty also took students on a campus tour. Additionally, other middle school and high school students and their parents participated in a fieldtrip to the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Attendees learned about the programs of study, admission requirements, financial aid assistance and were given a campus tour. Two parents indicated that the trip had helped them learn how they too could enroll in college after completing the Spanish GED coursework at the LCM.  Youth or adults who need information or assistance with their career or college plans can visit or contact the agency to receive services.

  • The Latino Center of the Midlands hosted the Office of the Honduran Consulate on May 16-17. The Consulate provided services to process passports, birth certificates, and dual nationality, to name a few. Clients came from the Omaha Metro and other locations in Nebraska and Iowa (Crete, Hastings, Grand Island, and Hamburg). Each year the LCM welcomes Consulates from different nationalities to offer their services at our facilities. For more information please visit or contact us at (402) 733-2720.

  • The Center for Education and Learning provides educational programs and services for youth, adults and families. Currently, there are 207 clients participating in an adult education program in the agency. These services include Spanish GED preparation classes, basic skills development and literacy classes, computer technology classes, and court referred parenting classes. These are offered throughout the week, during the day and evening, and offered in Spanish. To learn more about these services please see the Program Calendar section of this website, visit or contact us for more information.

  • Ninety-two percent of the clients receiving outpatient treatment successfully graduated from the program. The Substance Abuse Outpatient Treatment department provides treatment to individuals diagnosed as having substance abuse disorders or a substance dependence disorder. These services include outpatient treatment in group and individual setting, low risk offenders group therapy, adult alcohol education classes, alcohol and drug assessments and evaluations for adults.  Services are open ended and available throughout the year. For more information please visit or contact us at (402) 733-2720.
